Hi all

It took me a while to find this forum. I am glad that I found you. Really interesting community. I hope to become an active member if all the below run smoothly for us
I am planning to buy this boat

WinBoat 460RF SPRINT SAILBOAT | WinBoat USA
common.jpg
460RS8.jpg
460RS-folded.jpg
460RS2.jpg

As you can see it is foldable, inflatable and you can use it for sailing.
Do you guys foresee any problems with using this less common boat?

I will buy it in US and the plan is to bring it to Canada (Ontario).
At this point I have no idea what I need to do in order to be able to use this in Canada
I think that if I buy an engine I will have to get myself a license.
I could not find any info regarding the sailing part. Do I need a license for this as well?

We plan to use if for day trips or long weekends weekend trips.
We will store and transport the boat folded, we like to be very mobile and not having a boat trailer attached
is a big advantage. The boat is not very heavy and we plan to put it on the roof rack or in the cargo space of our miniwan
The other car we can use for this is a Ford Focus SE Wagon (hatchback).

For the engine somebody recommended me one of these motors:
Tohatsu 5hp Four-Stroke Outboard Model # MFS5CL
Tohatsu 6hp Four-Stroke Outboard Model # MFS6CDS
MFS6CDS Tohatsu 6 hp 4-Stroke - Integral Tank - 4HP to 6HP - Tohatsu Outboards - Online Outboards Canada

We will be using it for 5 persons and not very long trips.

I would really like to hear some educated opinions about the above

thanks
PF

Welcome to Iboats,

Interesting folding concep, those apparently small diam tubes barely touches water as hull seems bit high. For 5 boaters a 5-6 HP being just 123 CC would be too basic, why don't you go straight for a 4 strokes Tohatsu 9.8 HP which is 210 CC, it's the older brother to the same 8 HP model.

Interesting concept
It is around 8K MRSP (list price)
A lot cheaper if you buy them from Russia but shipping is going to kill you

Yeap ..they have a movie you can see that you can use the boat even if all the tubes are empty. :)

We are trying to stay low on costs, we are not sure if we are going to like it :)

There are a couple of things you can do that are a whole lot cheaper.
You can get a Walker Bay sailboat Dingy 8 ft or 10 ft.
Add the sail kit and extra tubes if you like and be on the water for under $3000
Rigid Inflatable Dinghy 310 : Walker Bay

The reason I don't have a Walker Bay boat is the closest dealer

Or
You can get a sib and put the sailboat kit on it.
Sailboats To Go ? Catalog ? Inflatable Dinghy Sailing Rig

Knowing what I know now I would opt for the sib and just put the sail kit on it.
That way you won't need a trailor and everything will fit in a car or SUV.
You could even put the sail kit on a Mariner 4 or any inflatable boat you want.

Are those Russian made ? 8 $ is for the whole sailing package too ? Have seen that concept before in alum boats and rowing large ones, bit without inflatable tube. The differerence betweeen a Tohatsu 6 HP and a 9.8 is $ around 600, but will make the difference if boating with 5.

Yes they are russian made
8K includes the sailing package too
They have a 4 persons version for about half the price, no sail accessories
