A7 to B7 valves?

Hi

I've got an Avon 310 and my wife offered to call a local shop about rubber cap rings and valve rebuild kits for the A7 valves. The guy didn't have any but tried to sell her on the idea of using B7 valves because they were low profile, etc.
I looked around but didn't see anyone using these as replacements/upgrades. Has anyone ever heard of this being practical?
