6hp, 8hp or 9.9hp for my 12ft SIB?

I don't know but I would think that a 20 hp 4 stroke would be better for trolling than the smaller engines because it would have more power to push the boat at a lower RPM.

For that affordable price difference would go for the 20 HP. Max HP power is achieved at full throttle and max wot revs, so not an issue as all 3 outboards have near same min idle rpm for trolling. We're talking about 4 strokes OB's right. 2 strokes have issues in terms of plug being fouled when trolling for long time periods as opposed to 4 strokes ones.

Thanks guys... and yes all 4 stroke OBs.

I think I am going to go with the 20hp over the 15.. Its such a small difference in price $150 that I would regret not getting it.. I checked my transom and it says it can handle a max motor hp of 20hp and max weight of 362 lbs. I think the Mercury 20hp 4 stroke is around 115lbs.
