I'm going to look at a 9 foot Achilles inflatable this weekend, it's 6 years old and the owner claims it's made out of Hypalon. What do I look for? My first boat was a bust, so I'd like some advice on my second.

So how do I check for water leaks? Air leaks? Anything else to look at?

Achilles are manufactured with excellent Hypalon fabric. Spray soappy water all over tubes, seams and keel while top inflated, include air valves, check for air leaks, bubbles. For water leaks flood deck and check for water leaks under bottom hull fabric and outer transom.

I was just informed that the owner is missing the bench seat, do I need this? He said he prefers to go without for fishing, which is my planned use.

Not an issue, don't use mine neither, you can always steer engine while sitting on tubes, seats takes available deck space and sometimes hinder if liking moving through empty decks.
