Fellow North GA Boaters,

I am taking my first trip on Lake Lanier this weekend. We are staying at a house around two mile creek. Just wondering what to expect, as far as the water, the amount of boats and/or choppiness. I am used to Lake Allatoona, which is smaller and very choppy. I don't 'have a big boat and she will give you a back ache on choppy days. Also, how long does it take to get across the lake, from the north end to the south end?

Are there any good restaurants or pubs to stop by on the lake? We plan on bringing our own lunch, but figured we would try and stop by a restaurant/bar to check out the views.

Thanks for your help!

There is a Lake Lanier Facebook page. You could find all the info you want there.

it's like Allatoona only twice as large. A lot of sailboats and larger boats. Weekend traffic is more than Allatoona also. I haven't eaten at any of the places on the lake, so just ask around. Have fun.
