Trying to figure out what year my boat is

Hi all,
I have a very old Crestliner 14' aluminum fishing boat. I am in the process of trying to find a motor for it because my other motor was also very old and ended up inoperable. (long story). Is there a general rule on it or am I able to look up the serial number to find out the max. size to put on it without sinking the thing? I tried to look at the plate in the rear of the boat where it tells you but it is so old that I can not read it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Poke around in HERE and see if you can find it. What HP was your old motor?

THE LAST TWO NUMBERS OF THE VIN# IS THE YEAR

If the boat is pre 1972, there is no original hin.

As its posted as an old Crestliner, I'm guessing it wont have an original hin.

Try looking around here too

And please turn off the all caps, no reason to shout

I would just put one on that was the same size as your old one.
