I have a Lockely Newport 19' sailboat. The open hole scuppers are on the stern above the water line. I replaced the 2 stoke 4 HP engine with a 4 stroke that weighs about 10 pounds more than the original engine. When I start cruising with the motor water comes in the scuppers. I placed scuppers flaps on the holes but water still comes in. When I have people stand on the bow the some of the water will drain out. any suggestions?

Welcome aboard:

Dunno' that I'd wanna' plug the scuppers up. Do the scuppers work right under sail? What happens at the pier, if you move around the cockpit? If you idle the 4HP - go WAAAY slow - do you get water coming in, or does it just happen when you're running the throttle up?

I'm wondering about weight issues, or perhaps the height of the OB.
