I have a 1965 Star craft fiberglass 14 or 16 foot runabout I inherited. Some scratches on bottom from beaching in sand years ago, and the boat takes on water, can't think of any other reason it would leak. Is there a way to seal the bottom, keeping in mind it is on a trailer.

You can wear away the glass on the keel until it will leak, but you can normally see where the bad spot is. Scratches don't normally leak.

If that is where it's leaking, you can re-glass the area and it will be as good as new.

If you are taking on water, it is not from a few scratches on the keel or the bottom of the boat, you have a perforation somewhere on the boat.

I'd splash it and check out where it's coming from. I suspect transom.

Best to find out more specifically where the leak is, like the others have said. Then you will know better how to fix. Post some pictures if you can. If you are going to re-finish the bottom, it probably will be coming off the trailer.
