Whats the minium hp outboard engine I need?

if it were me I would go with the max HP, you don't have to go full throttle but it nice to have when you need it.

But is it worth the extra money to max out just to use it once in a blue moon...... If the max is a 125, I would go with a 115. But a 90 will get the job done for the OP....... I wouldn't suggest going less than a 90.......

Folks, I think we've lost sight of the original question. In his 1st post he specifically asked about a 48hp, not a 45hp not a 50hp, which leads me to believe he either has one or has one available. He was asked that question in post #5 but has yet to respond to that.

So in that vain I say if you have one try it. If it doesn't work out trade it. Or if you have one trade it now and save some grief. At least get back to the 70% range which leaves a whole lot of models open to use. Or option 2 if he already has a 48hp would be to find a smaller boat.
