Hi all, I use an OMC
0175556 kicker bracket on my Grady White as I need the cylinder assist to get my kicker back up when done fishing for the day. Price on just the assist cylinder is really high and I am on Disability so I don't think I can replace it. Has anyone looked into using a gas assist cylinder in place of this one? does anyone have specs in terms of force etc on this one? Any info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Bill

I've had that bracket since 1984. A few years ago the bushings became loose so I replaced the whole unit. I found a nos unit on ebay and it was quite reasonable. Try looking for a used one and swap out the cylinder. If you can't find one just bite the bullet and buy the cylinder. The OMC is simply the best one out there. You won't be happy with any of the spring loaded ones.

I agree that it is really the best for my use. I just cannot liberate that amount of money without skipping things like meds etc. I may look into gas cylinders and try to come up with an alternate
Thanks for your input
