Garmin Echo Map dv70

Anyone have any experience with the Garmin EchoMap 70dv?
West Marine had them on sale for $649........seemed like a good price!

Looking for pros/cons

It's a 500W sounder......fine for inshore, not so good for offshore. Other than that, It's a decent unit

Typically, I expect the useable deep of a unit to be half it's advertised depth.

When running, cut that number in half again....and that's being very optimistic

I see the depth as advertised is 1100 ft.........../2 as you suggest = 550/2 while running = 225.........I rarely run more than 100 ft.
Guess I'm ok then............
