I'm looking for some ideas for a couple coat dollies for my 22' cuddy. I have a 3500 sq ft warehouse to keep it in over the winter but I need to be able to move it around easily. I was thinking of making a large box out of 2x12's (2 stringers and the end boards would contour the hull) and fastening heavy duty casters to it. Right now I believe my boat weighs about 4k lbs, but I plan on removing the engine and drive, THEN placing it on the dolly. I'm thinking it should weigh approx 2800-3k lb w/o the engine/drive.

Any reason not to just leave it on the trailer and use wheel dollies under the trailer wheels?

Yes, a bunch actually. I need it closer to the ground to pull the engine, there's not enough room to move the trailer around as it's very wide, and I need to either swap trailers or do some work on the current one.

Check out frisco boaters videos on youtube. I believe he goes over the one he made for the current project he's doing.
