I picked up this 2011 Cobalt 262 WSS (Volvo Penta 8.1L 420hp DP) in August 2014 and I've been using it at Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu this fall. Boat had 40 hours when I purchased it and so far it's been running great. This is my first Volvo Penta drive and I have a quck question about trimming...the trim seems to react much slower than previous Mercruiser drive units I've owned. Is this normal...the trim does work but it just takes longer to see/feel any movement than what I've been used to in my previous Sea Ray 190 with a Mercruiser Alpha drive. The trim gauge does work...it just seems like I have to hold the trim switch for quite a while to see any results? Is this normal for Volvo Penta to take longer to trim?

Thanks

Check the fluid level on the trim pump, run the pump without the main engine running and listen to it. Does it sound like its slow or laboring? If all seems normal, then it is what it is. Some boats take more trim to react due to their size and aft weight....not that I'm sayin' ya got a big aft end though....lol

Normal. You are lucky your trim gauge even works. Common issue with VP to have sender's fail prematurely.

Isn't that the truth.
Mine quit about 6 months after i bought the boat. At $200.00 it isn't getting replaced anytime soon.

Nice boat! Big as well. Don't think you can expect it to react as quick as a 19 footer.

I'll check trim fluid level and then check the trim sending unit condition...I'll report back.
