Because of record low water levels on the Great Lakes???

Sounds like it was a light grounding.

Irony is that the water levels on Superior are up higher than they have been in years. 6" above average.

A couple years ago the same ship ran aground on St. Mary's river, a couple miles up river from my place. That took a few days to free and it had to off load some of the load to get it light enough.

Further irony is that it missed a turn then also.

A likely story ... buncha' lake sailors in Duluth + pretty girl on shore = "See how close we can get for a look." ;)

If you're hull is touching sand, remember, running aground sure beats sitting on the bottom of the lake

Water levels are not the issue IMO, my beach has been disappearing at a good rate for the last several years. The Great Lakes are actually getting back to closer to normal levels. Wonder what that cost to get pulled off, and inspected?

I've run aground on a sand bar in my 19 footer, but this is huge, LOL.
