Ok, I have a question that i can't figure out. My 1972 Larson Shark that I acquired came with the 6 gallon removable fuel tank but the boat also has a fuel Fill spot on the top back corner of the boat and there is also a wire for a fuel guage on the dash that was run to the back. Did this boat maybe originally have a built in fuel tank? I would love to have the fuel guage.

Do you have any access panels in the floor? If it came with a tank it would normally be in the center of the boat in front of the engine. You could look at the back side of the fill spot and see where the hose goes.

+1, look for the mounting area, the wire (if it was not cut) should go to the area where the tank was mounted, check the length.

The tank in the floor may be a leaker, the reason for the 6 gallon removable.

The previous owner had redone the flooring/stringers etc so I bet they just removed the tank. The fill hose is just hanging there and the sender wire is loose as well. I guess I will just stick with the removable tank so I don't have to rip the floor back up:)
