Live Well

My boat has a live well that has a stand pipe in it like a toilet overflow would have. When I drain it, I just remove the stand pipe. My question is, if I have fish in the live well should I run the pump all of the time or just every so often so the fish get "new" water?

the stand pipe is the over flow and drain, and you will need to replace to water as the oxygen is depleted by the bait of fish, how much it needs to be ran is dependent on whats in the tank and why a lot of people add a cycling timer to control how much its ran.
