Winters rule here, with cold touching -20F for many days, and plenty of deep snow. We are supposed to get another 10-12" of snowfall tomorrow, and are talking about getting one more snow ski day in just for the novelty. Our lake sits at 9,300' elevation, and is still hard water. We set a record this year for new snow and the snowpack is needed, not just for the Rockies, but for the thirsty and drought ridden Southwest which is fed by our Colorado River watershed.

Despite enjoying snowsports, since the second week in March I've been asking the family at breakfast to guess what day it is? First it was 2 1/2 months until we could pull her out of hibernation and splash her either on or before Memorial Day. Then it was 6 weeks.

Now it's less than a month away. We cannot wait. Boating season is short in the Rockies, but oh so sweet.

Ahoy iboats.

Absolutely beautiful!
In contrast, its supposed to be 87 degrees today where I am and the water temp has been slowly rising to a now cool 65 degrees. We've already splashed the boat today but I'm going to jump in and hit the board for the first time this season in a full wetsuit though!
I'd imagine 65 degrees is about top of the mercury for you in August?

The mountains make for a beautiful backdrop against the still water. Here in Tennessee our mountains aren't quite so high, but they ad to the beauty all the same. I don't think I could handle the wait for splash as well as some do.

We're still at least a couple of weeks before the ice is out here as well.

Man, those are postcard pics!

No ice here, but no water either, lakes are 8+ feet low, sigh.

I just bought my 1st boat back in early March. Had a bunch of work done on it and its now ready to go and I cant get into the Niagara river. They have a ice boom up still. So I know how you are feeling. I'm itching to get to out there so bad. Awesome pics.

Great shot of the mountains. I sure do miss the Rockies. Here in Iowa i tell people it's so flat you can see half way across the state by standing on a 5 gallon bucket.
