Fishing Rod Holder Question

I've been looking everywhere for a rod holder that will hold a spinning rod. [i use a conventional rod once or twice a year, I never use a baitcaster reel]

There are going to be two rod holders going to be side mounted on my 1991 Sea Nymph 14K. I fish primarly in saltwater using a standard 7 foot rod with a spinning reel. [St. Croix Triumph Saltwater Spinning Rod] occasionally my Penn Fierce 10 FT surf casting rod. I use this rod the most [St. Croix Triumph 7 FT medium light action]

Anyone using any good rod holders for spinning reels?

I posted a pic of a rod holder that has the style I want and a pic of my boat

Re: Fishing Rod Holder Question

Have had many different rod holders over the years.

I like the Attwood PRO the best for spinning rods.

Hold secure, easily adjusted, only close the front over the rod if I am trolling for big fish, like northern pike.

About $20

The Scotty isn't bad, but I don't like the thumb screw adjustment. Like the one on the attwood better.

Also have had them mounted on boat similar to yours.
Be careful which you buy, as some will not clear the ridge on the top of the gunnel, or the tilt or pivot movement will be limited.
This can be remedied by placing a spacer between the gunnel and the holder base.
A 3/4" piece of plywood, or starboard will work.

I like the RAM 2000,...........

It is made to accommodate a spinning reel,.............

It can be purchased here at I-Boats,..........

The link is to a better picture so you can see why it works with a spinning reel,....

Re: Fishing Rod Holder Question

If you want them to be bullet proof, the Down-East are hard to beat, and the rod can be released by simply pulling it up. They're available with fixed, clamp or rail mount either in galvanized finish or powder-coated, and they're affordable. They work with both spinning and casting reels. The majority of musky trollers around here use them...

I have used the economy models that bass pro and Cabelas carry, they are two complete holders and fittings for 19.95, had them for many years and they hold all my different style rods. I have even used them to hold trolling rods for Walleye. One pair are now 10 yrs old and I have added others to the group as my boat has gotten bigger.

I use the Cabelas brand, that look exactly like Scottys (Im actually betting they are Scottys but rebranded) They fit spinning rods with the reel up. Baitcasters fit better though and are more natural to lift out and start cranking.
