Hey gents,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a crestliner 2013 16 ft kodiak tiller, with a 2014 merc 4 stroke 40 hp.
I'm curious what some peeps think May think my approx WOT top speed will be.

The boat had an .80 guage hull and weighs 700 pounds, 75 inch beam and is 16 ft 6 inches long.

The salesman is trying to tell me that I would pull out 40 mph with this setup. I don't believe him at all.

I'm thing more like 30 mph at wot with just me in the boat.

Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!

Tell your salesman to put his money where his mouth is.... if he says 40 then subtract 100 for every mph under. If you only get 30 mph which I believe is pretty close if not a little high yet, he will owe you 1000 bucks. After all he is supposed to be the professional here.

Hey air shot I agree with you on this one,

Maybe he's new haha. I argued with him over and over.

I figure I'll be a little faster on the salt water but certainly nowhere near 35 mph or faster

After many many runs on both salt and fresh water, on GPS I get 30.5 mph or 49 km/h. The speed doesn't change very much with people in the boat either. Unless I have lots of gear and 3 people in the boat one or two people that may be 300 pounders I go down to 28 mph. With just me I hit nearly 32 mph.

Its a good setup.

Well you have a good running motor, and it is propped right to get that speed.
