I just bought a 06 20i, my steering wheel is lose, up and down.(Don't know if it's from previous owners using the wheel to get out of the seat). How can I take wheel off, or tighten it up? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Ayuh,.... Generally speakin', ya pry off the center cap, loosen the big nut, 'n back it off so's it's flush with the shaft,...
Sit in the seat, 'n put yer knees under thewheel, pushin' off as hard as ya can,....
Then,... Wack the nut, Hard with a BFHammer,...
The wheel should Pop off the tapered shaft,...
Remove the nut, 'n wheel,...
At that point, ya oughta be able to tell whether the actual helm unit is worn out/ busted, or the helm mountin' in the dash is worn out/ busted,...
If it's the helm itself,... Replace it,....
If it's the dash, reinforce it with glass, 'n resin,...
