Oven Cleaner OK for Stripping Bottom Paint??

Has anyone tried using oven cleaner to remove bottom paint from fiberglass? Does it harm the gel coat?<br /><br />A neighbor recommended it - first I've heard of it.

I've used Easy Off oven cleaner to remove a painted on name and there was no problems but if you are doing the entire bottom you will need a few cans!

Yeah, it will take paint off...also nasty stuff on your lung, throat, nose membranes. Respirator and eye protection NOT optional.
