2002 bayliner 1950 bowrider...

I recently purchased a used 2002 Bay-liner 1950 Bow-rider...After a couple days I noticed a 4" rubber plug in the bottom of the hull, approximately 6 feet up the the stern on the starboard side...It sets flush with the bottom, but have never seen any thing like it before...Any Ideas would be appreciated...

Nothing stock from the factory in that location. If you look down in the bilge, does the "plug" have any wires going to it? My guess would be depth transducer.
