Good Evening iBoats Experts,

I have a Good Windlass which I believe is the AFD (or AFDM) or CFD or (CFDM) model. The windlass provides power up and will "free drop" the anchor when pushed into the "down" position using the cockpit toggle switch. It is working flawlessly at this point.

However, there is a screw on the side that says "Oil"... (Please see two attached photos)

I would like to provide any preventative maintenance/service to keep the unit operating well.

Can anyone provide any information on how I would know if the device requires oil and what type of oil should be added, if any?

On some pieces of machinery, you remove the screw and if oil leaks out of the hole....it is full. If not, you fill until it does, then replace the screw.

Is that the case with the Good Windlass?

As always, any and all information greatly appreciated.

Sorry, the port side photo of the windlass is a bit distorted for some reason. The starboard side photo is accurate.
