I have a 1998 Chaparral - 2835 SS.
My black water holding tank will only hold a gallon water. When I pump out the black water tank at the marina, only one gallon will come out. I have tried snaking from both ends and all kinds of things, but it acts like the tank is totally full. I have pushed the pedal to open bowl while pumping, still the same so I don't think it is a vent problem. Since the tank is underneath the drivers seat, and was installed before they put the top half of the boat on, there is no access to it, gauge or indicator. Nor can you see the level of the contents.
It does have a macerator set up, bit I am concerned to use it in the lake. It is in the water slipped full time with no trailer.
