I am looking to buy a 1991 eclipse 232 bow rider it looks to be in very good shape for the year the interior has no rips in the seats no fading and in 07 a merc 350 mpi was installed and the outdrive was rerebuilt. I like the boat because it seams to have a lot of room and I like the fuel injected motor I currently have an old 17' glastron with a 140 HP merc so this would be a big step up. I was wondering if anyone out there has one of these boats and are there any issues I should look for.

Sounds like a great buy with the newer FI motor. Rot would be your biggest concern. Check carefully for soft spots and get as good a look at the transom as you can.

I'm currently looking for a similar 233 cuddy version myself. I've found that this model is prone to stringer/transom rot due to poor sealing below deck. Check very carefully!

I had an Eclipse for 3 years. Built well. Really a nice boat in the water. That engine combo sounds good too --- great power for that sized boat.

Just check for rot as others have said.

Also if there is a trailer, ensure it is fully functional and maintained. I overlooked the trailer when I bought my Eclipse and ended up with a lot of expense there -- tires, wheels, brake lines, coupler, surge brakes, new brakes, wiring, lights, a few rollers, and then repainted it all.

Thank's for the input , bought the boat today everything was solid the hull and interior were in great shape, only able to get them down to $8,200 for the boat and trailer, I don't think I did too bad. Can not wait for the weather to break and get it on the water!
