Hi
New here so bear with me...
Bought a compass (swivel mount) for my Lund, but everywhere I try to locate it on the console, it affects the compass reading. I've looked underneath the dash and don't see any magnetic metal in/near the location that I want to mount the compass, yet it still swings the compass around. Anyone out there with this boat that can tell me where you are supposed to mount the compass?
Thanks for any help.

The compass will point to the problem.
Follow whichever end of the needle points at the console.
Move the compass wherever the needle points.
That will locate the problem spot.
Mount the compass as far away from whatever is.
If you can find a spot where the compass is only 20 deg off or so, the compensators should be able to correct it.

How accurate do you need the compass to be?

Compasses can also be affected by electronics and speakers (which have magnets), and to some degree can be affected by your gauges and current flowing thru the wiring.

Look also for wires that are coiled as the current flowing thru this coil can produce a magnetic effect.

Are the screws used for construction and installation stainless?

How much deflection and is it always in the same direction?
