I am in need of some help with my 2000 Johnson 60 hp fuel primer. I will not start unless you turn the red lever on the primer. I don,t see or hear any activity when the key is pushed in to prime. I tried to start it today and it would not start even with truning the red lever then it is getting a little gas with the primer hose disconnected after a few hours fishing using the trolling motor I decided to try to start again it started up with a lot of whiteist, bluish smoke then cleared up. After I got home I hooked up the hose and it started right up. I still dind't hear or see any monement of the fuel primer. How can I check this out so I won't have this no starting next time I go out on the river. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Those are prone to cracking. Pulls it out and take the top off and check both the top cap and the red plastic part, bet ya one or both is cracked.
