There are MANY MANY threads on this subject in the restoration section and lots and lots of differing opinions. Personally I would go with the pink or blue construction sheet foam (extruded polystyrene) from the home centers. I used pool noodles in mine but there have since been some flotation calculations done that cause me to question the amount of weight they can float.
