how much teak oil ??

I have used the Starbrite 3 piece kit, but no matter how much oil I use, it sucks it up; this teak probably hasn't been treated since 1988. Do I just keep using more and more until it holds it ?? I was getting ready to shellac it, but I have heard bad things about varnishing teak

sand it down smooth, then seal it with water sealer, then teak it.!

I just light sand ours one time a year and apply one or two coats and it looks good as new. I have never tried the cleaner stuff.
