Howdy, so I have a bare 16ft Starcraft. I am beginning to turn it into a right console fishing rig. I am trying to decide how much more it would cost to go with a steering wheel as opposed to a tiller. There is literally nothing in the boat right now, just bare aluminum.
I was thinking about purchasing this motor. ( http://montana.craigslist.org/boa/2973641107.html ) If I understand it correctly I would also need these things in order to have a steering wheel set up.
Steering Wheel ($50)
Console (homemade)
Rotary Steering System ($215)
Is the rotary system smooth? How would it compare to a car with power steering? also does the steering system have to "match" the motor? I read somewhere about some steering tube.
