1973 tri sonic mercruiser tank gallons?

Does anyone know how many gallons in each gas tank of mercruiser 165hp inline 6.i have one tank in each corner of boat.they are rectangular aluminum tanksam replacing one need to know how many gallons,i might go plastic sorry everyone its a 1973 tri sonic mercruiser

Ayuh,... A 165hp Mercruiser is a Motor,...

It don't have a gas tank...

Bond-o has a point there. The tank is in the boat itself, and you will need to let us know the year make and model of the boat to give us an idea of what fuel capabilities are. The motor is just an appendage to the boat.

Measure the tank to determine the volume. There are about 7.5 gallons per cubic foot.

Read the tag on the tank. Between two tanks, one of them should still have a tag.

yep, there should be a tag on it. or maybe it's printed on the side of the tank. are they mirax fuel tanks? i got a 16' '72 trisonic caprice tri hull. 165hp L6 engine. it had 2 fuel tanks in both aft corners too. they were 12 us gal. ea. was pretty nice to have 24 gal. on board. even gave ya a little cruising range...

measure the tanks. that will tell you what you have.

run'em dry (siphon it out) and top off. better yet, since ya got two. run one dry and have one to come home on. fill the empty one and multiply by 2 assummin there the same fuel tanks..
be careful with that idea though. there's the 1/3rd rule. 1/3rd out, 1/3rd back, and 1/3rd for emergency. stay close to land maybe... :facepalm:
