I have quicksilver control box and was wondering if cables for other brand outboards are interchangeable with the control box??

Nope, you are stuck with Merc, just as Ford parts won't work on a Chevy controls aren't interchangable.

Checkout Ebay, you cna get other controls pretty cheap and sell you currrent one to, if you want new Teleflex makes a universal control box, they are really high quality and not to expensive.
