Prop and Rudder alignment question

I recently acquired a 1991 Ski Brendella Super Comp ( to go along with my 1999 Ski Nautique).
After replacing the motor and going through the process of aligning the prop shaft I noticed that the rudder centerline does not align with the prop shaft.
The rudder center pivot is off centered from the prop shaft by approximately 1-1/2"- 2". Obvious, it is designed that way, although I have never heard of this type of offset on ski boats is it common?

Hmm, I can't say exactly why, but my guess is that it's offset to get the rudder into less turbulant water or that it's an engineering solution IE the prop shaft and rudder post, etc.. fit in the boat better that way. Maybe one of the pro's will turn up and tell us for sure.

The offset is for easy removal of the propshaft. Without the offset, you would have to remove the rudder to remove the shaft.

If done properly, that can also hlep the boat track better by offsetting the prop-walk.
