livewell pump turned to auto

When i turn my livewell pump to auto sometimes it just clicks and i can hear the pump rev up and down is it suppose to do this other times it runs normal like when i switch it to the full on position? I have a 98 bass tracker

Sounds like it has and air lock for a second then it clears.

Pull it apart and make sure there isn't any debris in it.

It would appear the intake has an obstruction or is nut fully submerged hence it draws a slug of air. However, that has nothing to do with the AUTO setting. This should be happening in the MANUAL position as well. Either switch position merely applies power to the pump.

On mine it's a timer. As soon as you switch to auto it runs for about 2 minutes then it shuts off for several minutes. It just continues to cycle according to the timer which is not adjustable as far as I know.
