I have a compass similar to the one in the link and was worried about damaging it if its left in the boat over the winter. I didn't see a way to remove it , however, without damaging it. It looks like the manufacturer glued it in.

do you remove the compass from the boat in the winter?

what kind of liquid is in the compass, and how low temps can they withstand?
