Hi,
I posted this is restorations and no one answered so I thought maybe it was in the wrong category.
I picked up a used rotary steering box with cable. The grease on the cable is pretty black. Can I open the box to clean and re-grease?? I have not worked with this box before (it looks like there is another hole in case you have toi switch sides so am I correct in that it CAN be opned?)... just don't want stuff flying out at me.

Thanks

Ayuh,... You can take it apart, but it's Not meant to be serviced...

The Teleflex website says they should NOT get any additional lubrication.

I would not take it apart. The cable can be removed and lubricated, but that`s it.
