One day pondering, it came to me how cool it would be to have a Cuddy and sleep out on the lake... How could I do this in my boat? My wife's one complaint about our deck boat was it didn't have a sun pad to lounge on.... I thought I could talk with my friend Howard (Lohaus Covers) and see what he thought about making a tent and filler cushions for the bow area...

So just when I thought a deck boat couldn't get any better...

bada bing! Tent and sun pad!

Fantastic idea!

But, dude, it looks like you owe some parking tickets. The cops clamped a boot on your trailer wheel!

Hey Bear, that was a great idea. Looks factory. Your friend sure does nice work.

Don't forget sound carries on the water at night.;):D

Thanks for the kind words, and noise factor on the water concerns. :D We hope to camp possibly this week. Howard does great work... The cost was under B.O.A.T. for tent and filler cushins....

That looks great! I guess I have another thing to put on the list for the Starcraft.

That's cool! How is it to put up and take down, and how well does it store away.

It's a piece of cake! 2 tent poles ( same as the ones used in camping dome tents ) They go into receiver holes machined into cubes of HDPE (high density polyethylene) screwed into the gunwales, you can see one in the interior pic pic. Then the tent is secured via snaps. Takes 5 min. The tent poles collapse, and the whole deal folds/rolls into the size of a large loaf of bread.

Very clever. I like it, too.

I'll bet with a little thought you could incorparate a small galley into the design. Little sink, camp stove, cooler...

That is very nice. Its Top Gun right?

How are the center pads supported in the middle?

We have a sink and fresh water, built-in coolers, and a gas grill! :)

That is a fantastic idea and looks to be very well executed.

Four Winns offered something very similar for their open bow boats many years ago. I remember seeing a boat at a boat show with a tent similar to yours with a porti-potta under the filler cushions. It seemed like a great idea then and I still think it is a great idea.

I'm contemplating what to do on my boat. My bow area isn't big enough to actually sleep though.

Thanks dude!

Nope not Top Gun, it's a fabric similar to Sunbrella (lighter weight than Sunbrella) that he uses for making tents... The name escapes me... I'll find out.

The filler cushions are supported by 3, 1" stainless tubes that go across the outer bow seat supports. They fit in slots machined into the HDPE (high density polyethylene) I'll take some pics next time I'm aboard...
