What is the average labor rate for I/O repair. And also if anyone knows if most places charge for diagnosis and if they do what is the average cost for that also?

Labor rate at local dealer in Illinois is $80.00 per hour. Don't have an answer for the other questions.

About $85 an hour around here.
diagnosis is 85 an hour until they are done. But most will not charge you if you get if fixed there unless they spend a ton of time on it.

I'm 75 as a mobile guy in Mass. Moving to FL next month and i've talked to some guys down here and the mobile rates run 60-80, dealers and marinas run 90-120.

I've seen them as high as $115 in north Pinellas at Marinas. As a mobile guy, I never make less than $50...but usually for me, I can take a $400 marina job down to $200, and I make $100 an hour. I'm good, I know what I'm doing, and I'm fast...

I had some work done in February and paid $75 an hour. That was the off season discount. If I went into the same place right now I would pay $100 an hour. Location was Belmont NH.

I am finding rates that are extremely low, if you look for techs that have been laid off from service centers who made cuts to stay alive in business. You will find these guys on CL most often. Just make sure to get referrals! If the work is not a large amount of hours, I just prefer to do it myself.

85 bucks an hour around here. However, I prefer to do as much as I can myself.

Not sure on the diagnostics part though, sorry!

Dealers and marinas in my area are 85 to about 115.

If i do mobile work it is 75 for the first hour and 50 each hour after that.
If they bring it to me it is 50 hourly flat rate.

yep about 80 an hour. The local shop out here will remove and inspect the outdrive, and change the oil and check the bellows, gimbal bearing, etc. for 200 bucks. repairs/parts extra.

$85 per hour and $195 per hour if you want to help, least that is what the sign says.

That's funny.:D
