Will an amp meter display correctly if I connect one side to the dc regulator output and the other side to the positive of the accessories coming from the fwd control box or does it have to be placed in series to the +POS of the starter regulator? This means two wires running from gauge to engine.

Thanks in advance

Re: Amp / ammeter wiring

For an ammeter to work properly it has to be connected to a "shunt" and the shunt needs to be placed in series with whatever circuit (i.e. wire) that you want to monitor. With that being said, I dont know how to precisely answer your question because the I am not familliar with the terms that you are using. However most ammeters do require two wires running to the shunt to work correctly.
