How do you prevent condensation from building up under seat cushions in your boat cabin?
on the bottom of the bench seats in the galley, they are constantly wet.

should I put a water asorber under the seats?

Good ventilation on your part or you have a leak somewhere. ..
I've never ran into that problem with all the cabin boats that I've owned. :)

You can, that may help depending on the amount of it. Id try putting in a dehumidifer if there is alot, then closeing it up as tight as you can to keep it dry.

I agree. It's a ventilation problem.

Ventilation and water absorbers will get rid of moisture, but you should first find out how the moisture is getting in. If you can stop the moisture from getting in you won't need to worry about getting it out. You may have a leak somewhere.

I'll shoot my big toe off on this guess. :D. I'll bet its coming in from your rub rail or a cabin window . :)

I would probably remove the cushions, lay down news paper, play with the boat all day and see if the paper is wet, dry newsprint does not condense

Re: Condensation building up in boat cabin

when it is pouring down rain, there are a few damp spots where the stantions bolt into the roof of the cabin/ bottom of the deck.
but no outright leaks.
i close the cabin up tight when leaving the boat. there is only an inch gap at the top of the door, where it meets the sliding door.
the boat is kept in the water, btw.

the boat does have 2 vents, one in the head, and one in the bow.
where i am getting condensation is on the bottom of the seat coushions. and under the seats, is a storage compatment, that is below the waterline. so maybe it has to do with the cold water on the other side of the hull?

I keep my tug in the water & never ran into that problem.
You have a leak somewhere !!. Water will find the easiest path to run.

Get out the caulking gun. :)
