Water Inlet Scupper/Strainer

I purchased a used trailer for my 29' Monterey and I wanted to make modifications to the trailer to make loading and unloading easier. Currently the trailer has a Y-Bar mounted to a cross member to support the bow.

I've purchased 2x6's, carpet, brackets and hardware to install two bow bunk boards and remove the Y-Bar. My problem is that there is a scupper/strainer in the hull of the boat in the location where I need to position the new bow bunk boards.
Is it ok for the scupper/stainer to rest on the new boards without damage since the vessel weighs around 7000lbs?

I wouldn't do that, it is a hole in the fiberglass and the additional stress of the boat weight and the movement during transport will surely break or crack the hull IMHO

The key to matching your boat to it's trailer is to have the bunks directly under the stringers, where the hull support is. Obviously, since this scoop pickup isn't on a stringer, you need to adjust your bunks...and that will take care of your problem...
