We have one for our bass boat. Our's has threads at the bottem of the main pole that screws into our seat post. My friends has a pin that goes in the bottom, but they have access under theirs we do not. They are pretty easy to install, you just have to drill two holes in boat for the support poles to hook into. In the directions it told us to pull forward on the main pole when you are setting the length of the support poles which you do by drilling a hole through them and inserting a bold. We pulled to hard and it is a pain in the but to put on sometimes because you can't get the holes lined up.
