Hello folks,

I just signed up because i find this site interesting.
Last week I bought my first boat, 14ft brand Eduardono ...
It currently has a 15hp yamaha enduro outboard on it (came with it)
This boat is awesome, i live on an island in the caribbean, we have no lakes..all we have is ocean so I love it even more...i bought it last week tuesday, and i already took it to the sea 4 times :)

now my question is, the site says "25hp max" .. is this true? Can't i go with like a 40hp?
we have big waves sometimes, and more power is better..

thats not me, but thats the boat...

why couldn't this handle 40hp ? why only 25hp?
what can be done for it to handle 40hp then?

btw, its full fiber..

i forgot to add, this 15hp is doing really well..and i know that 25hp would do even better...but what could be the thing that it couldnt handle 40hp?

is it too light?

There are a lot of things that go into the max HP recommendation. Weight, amount of freeboard, construction etc. You should definitely not exceed it. However it is said that you need at least 70% of your boat's max rated horsepower for acceptable performance. You're currently only at 60%. I think that boat would be a rocket with a 25 so that's what I'd put on it.

yup..so 40hp would be too much...

im planning on saving up for a 2 stroke 25hp ... 2 stroke is light and good

Yes I believe 2 strokes are typically much lighter than 4 strokes. They make an Evinrude E-tec 25 now and that's what I'd want on there if I was buying new.

The Evinrude 2 stroke 25 would be better than the Yamaha 2 stroke 25?

I consider them equal if they are in equal condition. It would depend on which one is easier to get parts for on your island.

Re: Eduardo?o 14ft

Based on the specs and pics that I found on the website, I would not suggest putting a 40 on the back! The boat, as short as it is, would have the center of gravity (cg) shift too far back, due to the increased weight, and could make it very easy to tip backwards if you hit a wave.

Enjoy it! :):)

Re: Eduardo?o 14ft

alright.. thanks !!

for me here, yamaha is easier..so a 25 hp it is, 2 stroker....any one else suggest a 4 stroke instead? I choose the 2 stroke cause of 4 stroke being toooo heavy...

thanks !
