Im new to the forum and im looking at buying a 1998 12" triton 1231sfb. It has a 9.9 gamefisher on it. From what i read on the triton site it says the boat is rated for a 3hp motor! If you step up to the 14" triton it is rated for a 20hp! That seems crazy to me. Im getting a killer deal on this boat i just want to make sure its gonna be safe! This is my first jon that ive owned, but my dad did have a little 12 footer when i was younger.

Just another word of advice....Gamefishers were made by a couple different manufacturers...and unfortunately none of them are still around and parts support can be difficult. I'd pay $500-600 for a nice running Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury 9.9 but I'd probably have difficulty paying even $200 for a Gamefisher.
