Varnish and Pinhole leaks

Have an '80 18ft Sun Ray. Fun little boat. Was sitting in storage for 20+ years and the tank has a nice layer of varnish in it. The engine is now in great working order and everything works great BUT the fuel .

The Ethanol in the fuel combined with wave action dislodged lots of varnish. I manually extracted ~80-90% of it (About 2 cups when wet) with an airpump but there is still some residue which clogs the intake pipe/fuel hose before the filter (sometimes not always)

I am concerned about pinhole leaks though in the fuel tank.

Also the tank is glassed into the hull prohibiting removal for inspection/ cleaning.

My question is:
Am I better off cutting the glass off and replacing the tank? (Any one have suggestions on good deals for custom tanks, shipped to CA).

Or if I do not replace the tank how do I test for pinhole leaks and clean the rest of the varnish out?
