Jon boat transom repair

My son's 12 ft jon boat is going to need the transom repaird fairly soon. What should be used, marine plywood, PT plywood, exterior grade plywood with a couple coats of resin? He only uses an electric trolling motor on it, but I would like to get it back in shape to be safe with an outboard just in case.

two pieces of 3/4 inch marine plywood, bolted through, seal the holes.
