Modifying a cockpit cover

We have a cockpit cover for our Crownline but it was made for having the bimini supports down, and the Captain wants to leave them up. I have seen some threads here on making a cover from scratch, but nothing about how to modify an existing one.
Is such a thing possible?
Is it advisable?
Or is it better to just make or have made a new one?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Anything is possible,.. I guess it'll depend on your seamstressing talents...
