I have a Sunbrella mooring cover for my boat, but one of the snaps pulled clean through the fabric leaving a slightly larger hole so I cannot simply put a new snap in its place. How do I go about putting a patch over the hole that will then allow me to put in a snap?

Re: Fixing boat cover snap

Buy one of those iron-on patch kits available from any boating supply store and then you should be able to install a snap.

Re: Fixing boat cover snap

Since there should be webbing behind the cover where the snap attaches, you need to get a piece a few inches long, sew it on the inside of the cover, and then put a new snap in. Remember, the webbing holds everything together, and you don't want to rely on an iron on patch to take the stress of the snap point. The webbing spreads the stress out over the entire perimeter of the cover.
