Hi folks,

Can someone tell me what the ELPTO means as in the "Mercury ELPTO" engines? I think it has something to do with being a saltwater unit, if that happens to be the case, then what does that mean exactly?

Any comments or reviews of the 125 ELPTO would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Mercury ELPTO

I had a Mercury four stroke 25 ELPTO.

ELPTO stands for Electric, Long Shaft (25") Power Trim Option.

GEO... Is it posible you were looking at the 125 Mercury ELPTO in the Bigfoot motor. The Bigfoot model is built for saltwater. More stainless steel in the lower unit and water contact areas.
