A couple of years ago, Poweboat magazine (the consumer reports for boaters) rated all the major marine aluminum cleaners and polishes. 3-M aluminum cleaner and polish was rated as the best. It is fairly costly and some work to apply but it does the best job.

Re: Lokking for good Pontoon cleaner

When I got my pontoon it had been sitting in the water for a while and the pontoons looked very bad. I got some ToonBrite and sprayed it on and it worked well. It took two applications. The first spraying got most everything off and it looked a lot better. The second time I sprayed and brushed it and it looked great. After that I rubbed on Future floor wax and it keeps it looking good.
Note: wear gloves while applying ToonBrite. It is an acid.

When using Toon Brite is the finish look sort of milky? Do you have to put a sealer on the pontoons after using Toon Brite? Any other suggestions on how to clean older pontoons?
